#9: Lisa Hawkins - Room to Room Furniture

Albine Bennett

Tupelo native Lisa Hawkins, armed with a Bachelor of Science and a Master's in Nursing from Mississippi University for Women, wears many hats. She owns Room to Room Furniture, previously ran Velveteen Rabbit, and once taught nursing at Itawamba Community College.


Her community involvement is equally impressive. Hawkins is the vice chair of the CREATE Foundation and a key figure on the Sanctuary Hospice House and Journal Publishing boards. In addition, she actively volunteers for Eight Days of Hope, United Way, Regional Rehabilitation, and numerous other nonprofits.


Hawkins has led the Tupelo Junior Auxiliary, presided over the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Mississippi, and chaired the United Way. She's also played pivotal roles in events like the 50K Giveaway and the Regional Rehabilitation Santa fundraiser. Her leadership extends to past positions like CDF president, Northeast Mississippi Medical Center corporate board member, and Tupelo Housing Authority commissioner.


Her contributions have earned her multiple accolades, including the 2021 Red Raspberry Humanitarian Award, Home Furnishings Association's Retailer of the Year, and National Junior Auxiliary's Volunteer of the Year.
